About Us
The association is doing its best to achieve its founding purpose and conducts leadership lectures every year to preserve and pass on the culture of haenyeo. In addition, through capacity building education, it is raising the self-esteem of Jeju haenyeo and striving to preserve the culture. The association president personally lectures on educational programs conducted by local fishing villages and haenyeo schools, and the association is doing its best to pass on and preserve the culture of haenyeo.
In addition, we are continuing to maintain exchanges with female divers from other regions of the country and overseas, thereby recording and understanding the footsteps of Jeju female divers who are disappearing, and striving to provide continuous support and interest in each other's regions.
The Haenyeo Association actively participates in the Jeju Haenyeo Festival (designated date: the third Saturday of September every year) and participates in events nationwide to promote Haenyeo culture, thereby playing a role in spreading the word about Jeju Haenyeo culture.
We will also focus on continuing the tradition of Jeju Haenyeo by taking the lead in training new Haenyeo, and we will listen to the difficulties Haenyeo face in the field, such as selling conches and creating a clean ocean environment, and cooperate with the administration to provide support for Haenyeo. Through this, we are striving to preserve, pass on, and utilize Jeju Haenyeo culture.
