Jeju Haenyeo is the mother of Jeju who has lived with the rough sea and is a proud being who has protected Jeju Island's culture and community for hundreds of years.
Their lives are full of respect for nature, solidarity with the community, and deep vitality.
The tradition and spirit of Jeju Haenyeo were registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016, and Haenyeo fishing was designated as an Important National Fisheries Heritage of Korea, widely recognizing its historical value and importance as a sustainable fishing culture.
The Jeju Haenyeo Association, a non-profit organization, was established as the actual subject of this cultural heritage to faithfully play a central role in enhancing the self-esteem of Jeju Haenyeo and in preserving, inheriting, and utilizing Haenyeo fishing and culture.
We are working to improve the welfare of female divers and to ensure that their spirit is passed on to future generations through the operation of female diver schools, education, and festivals.

As a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, we pledge to the following with a sense of mission:
